1st time blogger, 5 times Boston qualifier

Hi, my name is Amanda Dennison.  I am 30yrs old, a wife, mother, and runner.  Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I am very excited to be a Team Priority Health Champion.  I have been running for about eight years now and didn’t know what the heck I was doing when I started.  I got the wrong shoes, wrong clothes and wrong diet!

When I started, I bought shoes that were a size and a half too small (with running shoes, you always want to go a half size bigger than normal).  Your best bet is to go t0 a store like Strider’s or Gazelle’s to be fitted properly. Wicking clothes are a must (clothes that dry fast and wicks sweat away from the skin).

With lots of help from my running friends at the Grand Rapids Running Club (who are now considered family to me) I have made it farther than I ever dreamed possible. My first marathon was a BQ (Boston Qualifier) and I was shocked.  I have since  qualified four more times.  I ran Boston twice and it’s just an unforgettable experience.  Now, I am running 80 miles per week (and hope to add some more soon) and just become the best runner I can be.  The key is to be consistent, have positive friends, keep a log book, eat a  healthy diet, and put one foot in front of the other!

I had to tell a friend (she just started running last year) about you the day after our meeting! I find it simply amazing!
