Adventure Racing Season Begins!

Well the first adventure race of the season is approaching this upcoming Saturday, Infiterra’s Spring Fury!  My partner Rachel and I need to keep our winning streak going in the female division while continuing to inch our way to the top of the best of the best overall. Rachel will lead us in the orienteering once again and I will keep us moving at a good pace on the bike, trekking and paddling.  I will also bring some of my latest and greatest songs to sing along the way.  I am not a great joke teller but I am a great rambler.  Sometimes I feel bad that Rachel has to listen to me but she never complains, at least not to me.

Hoping for a beautiful day in Pinckney!  A few of you have asked me to blog on adventure racing so here is my ramblings.  Preparing the week before the race…I am spending tonight looking at the mandatory gear list and planning out my week of training.  You might ask what is a mandatory gear list and what does it look like?http://www.infiterrasports.com/gear-list/   Follow this link and you will see what I am looking at.  I have two gear bins I work out of during the year.  A gear bin is just a tupperware container in case you were wondering.  One of them I keep in my car all year around and it has my biking gear, running shoes, water bottles, fuel and a bunch of random, but often needed supplies.  The other bin has my seasonal and race day gear only.   If you are an outdoorsy, camper, hiker type person you probably have most of the gear already.

If you want to know more about any of the gear on the list let me know.  The link I sent above is a pretty standard gear list.  Each race might have some minor differences.  For those of you who are interested in learning more about adventure racing keep posted, I will take you along on my journey.
