A Run Through the Woods Lands Me in a Swamp

A run through the woods lands me in a Swamp

So today I decided to go for a cross-country run through the woods. I thought it would be a good switch from my normal run down the Kent Trails or through my neighborhood. Well the first 5 minutes of my run went pretty well until I saw a rope hanging from a tree next to a swap, and of course my curious self decided to run off the trail and over to the tree to check it out. I ran up to the rope, which was about the size of the ropes we would climb in school during gym class. I gave it a quick tug to see if it was going to hold me and it seemed like it would when I pulled on it. So I grab onto it and ran as fast as I could towards the edge of the swap and jumped, thinking that I would swing over the swap like Tarzan. Well when I was over the swap at about the point where I should have started swinging back towards the land the knot in the tree let loose and I ended up in the green and black smelly swap water in muck up to knees! I couldn’t believe what had just happened! I was in shock and started laughing at the situation I got myself into. Luckily my girlfriend was with me and she was able to help pull me out of the muck that went up to my knees with the rope that was now lying on the ground. Of course she was cracking up laughing at me while she was pulling me from the swamp. The only thing I was kind of bummed about is that I was wearing my brand new running shoes that I had just bought last week, it was only my second time wearing them. Now they were covered in black smelly swamp muck. The rest of my 3.1 mile run went pretty well minus the fact that I smelled really bad and I had a hard time out running the fly’s.

This was definitely the most interesting run I have gone on so far this year.
