I ran in the Alger Heights Halloween 5k this weekend! It was a lot of fun!
There is something about running a race in a costume, and being surrounded by other people running in costumes that makes this race so much fun! I didn’t go all out and race in a full out costume, but I wore a hat and wig and it still gave me the feeling of fun fun fun!!! I ran amongst superheroes, dogs, cats, firefighters, police officers, butterflies, brides and grooms, and the list goes on!!!! Alger Heights also harbors many great cheerleaders who stepped outside of their homes to cheer us on as they enjoyed their morning coffee!
My time ended up being about thirty seconds short of my PR, but I’ll blame that on the cold weather
’ If there is one thing I do well in races it is the fact that I finish strong!!! It felt so good to get out there and compete and it was a good reminder to me of why I enjoy participating in events like this! I also had a running partner this time and he kept me going strong the entire way. I think I enjoy having that person there to motivate me to keep going when I feel tired, so hopefully he will join me on many more races !
Well, I hope everyone enjoyed their halloween weekend as much as I did! Happy racing to anyone who has an event coming up, and congrats to anyone who recently competed as well!
