Today I realized I am under the 90-day countdown to the 2012 Wish a Mile bike ride, the 300-mile, 3-day charity ride to support the Make a Wish Foundation of Michigan in July that begins in Traverse City and ends this year in dramatic fashion with the last mile consisting of a lap around Michigan International Speedway. For anyone who has been searching for that epic ride that delivers an amazing accomplishment, changes your life, and supports an amazing cause, you should consider the “WAM”. And I guarantee, at 86 days to the start, you STILL have time to train! A very wise and experienced cyclist once told me that a century ride (100 miles) is nothing more than a short, simple ten mile training ride that you just happen to do ten times in one day. And you know what? If you look at it that way, it WORKS!
So as I kick my training into higher gear (which means training inside on the spin bike if the weather is cold and wet – no time now for excuses!), I am thinking how wonderful it would be to see a group of Team Priority Health Champions on the starting line in July in T.C.! Anybody in? I am more than happy to share sensible training suggestions!
