new champion:Short version of my story

Hello. My name is Lou Santos and back in the summer of 2009  (year of the Swine flu)  I  had a fever unlike one I’ve ever had before. At its worst I could not squeeze toothpaste from a tube. I could barely walk. I was in constant fever pain for about a week. It took a month until I began just to feel not sick. < >A week after that I began to exercise lightly. Having been a personal trainer for years before changing careers, I did have some good knowledge about getting well again. I did what I knew to do and added some new exercise options. While it took several months I did begin to regain confidence in my body and eventually decided that I needed to return to the fitness arena again as a personal trainer to help people with my version of old workouts and additional new twists. Working out less than I ever did before I have now become stronger than ever (at 55). My renewed passion has reawakened my spirit of competition. After 10+ years away from racing I am now ready to try once again. While I am slower,  the competition is now also more fun. I look forward to trying out new adventures with the tried and true ones. Mud run here I come!

I am 55 years old. I am once again a personal trainer as an independent and for the Greater Kalamazoo Area Y. I am married now for 15+ years to my lovely wife (Lanie) with three children (2 boys: 19 & 15/1 girl: 9). Originally from NYC, I relocated in 1993 to meet up with a friend in Kalamazoo and start up my business. And as the song goes Met a girl In Kalamazoo.......
