Michigan Senior Olympics

Well tomorrow is the 5k bike time trial and 40k road race. I’m a bit apprehensive as I’ve done neither. I have many a triathlon race under my belt so I feel somewhat comfortable with riding the time trial however as far the road race this will be entirely new. I have ridden in group rides but I’m assuming this race will be an entirely different thing altogether. My idea is to ride safely in the middle and if I have not been dropped then somewhere near the last 5k  I will attempt a repeat of the time trial and try to stay away from a sprint at the end. Any advice accepted.

I have been stepping up my training both in the gym (strength) and on the road (bike and run). This is the base I must build upon on which both my mental and physical ability will enable me to pursue a higher intensity safely. I have begun some track workouts so I know mentally I am beginning to feel more confident as doing the  hard solo efforts has always been a sign that I am willing to do the work. Most of the easy gains have already been achieved.
