Reed’s Lake Run- Hurdle #1 Cleared

So…I entered the Reed’s Lake Run less than a week ago. I had been training one of my clients to be able to run it and it was her first race. I knew I was going to be down there watching her and at the last moment I decided I could at least walk if nothing else. Well…with all my competiveness and all the festivities, I decided to try running. I ended up running all but 4 minutes of the race. At mile marker 1 and 2 I walked for 2 minutes before running again. I felt great to be running. I had tears in my eyes a couple of times. Hurdle one has been cleared. I made it through the race without having a problem with hypoglycemia or my eyes shutting. Hurdle #2 is tomorrow. The day after exercise is the real test, but for today I will bask in the glow of clearing my first hurdle. I will deal with tomorrow as it comes, but until then, I will enjoy knowing that I finished the race in under 30 minutes!
