Kansas City Firsts – BBQ, Tris, etc.

Every time I told someone that I was moving to Kansas City, they made sure I knew that KC was known for the BBQ and the HEAT. For nearly two weeks, the temperature rarely goes below 100 degrees. Be sure to hydrate! Electrolytes and water! Two weeks ago, I completed my first metric centurian, and wow did I enjoy myself! Just a few hours ago, I finished my first triathlon. I met my goal of finishing just over an hour, but I am not content with just that. I found areas to improve. I know now where to focus my energy and time. More pool/lake time! It has been very difficult to train in the swim portion with the lack of resources, but I spoke with many clubs and fellow triathletes following the race and learned of a few new things.

I now have 2 weeks off before a duathlon, followed by another sprint triathlon at the Lake of Ozarks in Southern Missouri on the 28th, and finally a 75-mile ride the 5th of August!

The picture was taken by a coworker’s wife. He is an engineer at the Unilever plant I’m interning at.
