Are you thinking, what am I going to do this weekend? Having Tour de France withdrawl?  Don’t fear I have a few solutions for you to have a fun weekend full of cycling events. Whether as a spectator or participant you’re sure to have a good time.

Herman Miller Grand Cycling Classic, Saturday, July 28, Grand Rapids:

Come on out, whether as a spectator or racer, to the Herman Miller Cycling Classisc. Through out the day there will be amateur and kids races. Kids races are free for children 9 and under.  The event will conclude with the Pro Women’s race followed by the Men’s Pro Race. The Pro racers will be zipping around corners and zooming across the brick roads of Grand Rapids at speeds up to 40mph. Yup, that fast.

The Pro Men will be racing for the stars and stripes jersey and to earn the prestigious title of USA Cycling Men’s Pro National Criterium Champion.

Our own Leslie Gaine, member of the Team Priority Health Women’s Team,  is the Queen of this race. She’s been the first female for the last several years. She’s even featured on the website, http://blackbearbicycletour.com/tourInfo.html. Any questions about her experience at this event, I’m sure she would be more than happy to answer them for you.

Before my racing days, I did the Black Bear Bicycle Tour. It is a lot of fun and a great ride.

Any Team Priority Health cyclists to be on the lookout for at the Herman Miller Grand Cycling Classic, and if so, which race(s)? Like to be a purposeful spectator cheering on TPH!

Except for the Pro Men’s category, there will be strong representation by Team Priority Health in all of the categories.

Look out for strong team competition in the Men’s 1/2/3 between the local Grand Rapids teams of Team Priority Health, Leadout Racing and Bissell ABG.

In the Women’s Pro 1/2 race lookout for Amy Stauffer, current State of Michigan Criterium champion. She’ll be competing against some of the strongest women in the nation. Should be an exciting race.
