State Games of Michigan

Hello everyone. I must say that anyone in this area should sign up for next years state games. It was well run and thousands of people were there to compete or just play. It is something anyone can do. Look up an individual or team event and get going. Have plans to be ready one year from now. A great goal is to be better by this time next year!  As for my events: in the 50m dash I ran 7.39. Since I have never run this event before I now have a time to beat next year. I passed on the 100m run. It was too soon after the 50m. The long jump was fun. It looks easy on t.v.  but it was a lot harder to actually do the jump. I did jump almost 12 feet so I also have a mark to beat for next year. I will  train to do these events over the winter so I can be better next year ( I hope). One other really neat thing about participating in these events are the people you meet here. Incredible stories abound and new friendships spring up.

I encourage everyone trying to improve their fitness to get up and get going. Get help. Learn proper form and technique. Start out real slow with easy “workouts” and learn what movements you can do without hurting yourself. These small successes will go a long way in helping you figure out exactly what works and what doesn’t work for you. Thought for the day: What little thing can you do today to make yourself better for tomorrow!

I look forward to meeting the other Champions at the run clinic next month!
