Vacation

So…going on vacation can totally mess with your training schedule. I had been doing really well doing cardio about 3x’s a week. I was running and riding my bike and then I was strength training 3x’s a week as well. Granted my strength training isn’t super strenuous by most people’s standards, but for me my 3-4 exercises that I know my body can handle is enough to help me get stronger and be sore:)

Vacation got me out of my cycle and I was feeling bad for not being able to do what I had been doing, but when I started to look back over what I had done over vacation, I realized I had actually gotten  some pretty good workouts in for me and my health issues. I played basketball for the firsttime in almost 2 years. I haven’t attempted to play because my health issues always flared up, but they didn’t this time. I almost cried while playing because it was such a monumental moment. I also rode my bike around Ocean City a lot. Then I walked 3-6 miles daily in NYC. My body is slowly starting to allow me to exercise again and I wasn’t very happy that I couldn’t continue my normal routine.

Though my exercise routine didn’t look the same, I still exercised and don’t feel as though I lost what I had worked so hard for. So if you are beating yourself up because you got out of sync because of vacation, walking and bike riding is still exercise and you can get back on the exercise horse once you are back home. That is my plan. Now back to my regular schedule!

I enjoy watching my husband play softball and being as active as I can be.

Sounds like you did great! That is the different between and active and passive vacation. Pass on the bus tours and rent a bike instead. Hoping to be able to keep active on my upcoming vacation. Thanks for the inspiration.
