Before we begin, let’s get a few things straight: my blogging ability is here –>___, instead of here–>¯¯¯¯ (pretend I’m talking with my hands). Most of the time I read what I write and think it’s really funny, like really funny…usually I’m the only one. Again ____ <–here. Oh well, I digress. Typically I write blogs in my head while I’m riding, they are witty, comical, and more or less entertaining. The only problem is…I forget them the moment my bike stops moving. Predicament.
Now that we have the awkward part out of the way, story time, kind of!!
This is my first year on Priority Health and so far it has been great! The season is winding down, and I’m delighted with what I’ve accomplished. However, this blog is not about that. Instead it is about the one and only Laura Melendez. SURPRISE!
Laura is phenomenal teammate, who definitely deserves some recognition from me. She has been amazing all season, she cheers me up after a bad race, motivates me during warm ups, and sings Katy Perry’s “Firework” while riding. What more could I ask for? Seriously?
This one time at Grattan (haha), I sat on her wheel for the entire race. Not because we are teammates (that is just a bonus), but because she is such an incredible bike handler and safe to be behind. Unfortunately for all of you reading, you will have to fight me for her wheel…my sincerest apologies. Actually, I’m not that sorry
Oh, something you should know, I like to spin my feet…I’m happiest between 110-120 RPMs. There are instances in races where I need a bit more power, and should shift but don’t. Luckily this is where Laura comes to the rescue, she is like that voice in your head—but outside—telling me to shift, again…and again…and again. It’s GRRREATT! This can be seen in the picture below.
All in all, Laura is super cool. And I am quiet pumped that we are teammates. Woot! Woot!

Perfect blog Chelsea! I love it and thank you for sharing. Laura is such a HUGE asset to our team that we can’t possibly express our thank you’s and appreciation enough.
For the record, I thought your blog contained both wit and humor and I was very entertained.
