August racing.

Fine month of racing in August.  Never one to enjoy shorter races as I am not built with the gift of speed- but ended up with 3 short races in August.  Leland Fishtown 5k.  Rogers City 6k and Royal Oak Beats, Arts and Eats 5k.   Good results in all and beginning to appreciate the swift pain of the short race.
Today I ran the 5k in Royal Oak- a ton of Priority Health teammates attended.  Well worth coming down to race and meet some folks.    I am training for New York City Marathon so warmed up for an hour, raced and then cooled down for 40 minutes.  Sweet workout.   Warmed up with “Cricket”- PH teammate from Kzoo.  I told him the hardest part of the day was his “fartlek” 2 block pre-race sprint to “shake out the legs.”  It almost ruined me.

Cheryl Olson is a beast- racing after killing Ironman last week.  Way impressive.

Teammate Marie kills it- I had to kick it up to beat her to the line.

Teammate Jeff leaves immediately to run another race at noon.  Damn.

Other teammates went to fuel up after the race to get ready for a “zumba” marathon- including iron Cheryl  Olsen.

This is a tough crew.

My next race is the Mackinaw Island 8 miler next Sat.  Awesome one loop tour of the island.  Try to make it.

Rock it.
