Le Tour de Donut – My Entry is Not Fair to the Other Riders!

I’m on the verge of signing up to ride in the Le Tour de Donut at the Klackle Orchard in Greenville, on September 22.  But I almost feel like I’m cheating.  You get three minutes knocked off your time for every donut you eat.  Having been a cop for 27 years I feel I may have an unfair advantage.  I’m sure there are those who will take this “race” seriously, but I think the design is to have fun and since I’m now in the fun mode for a couple months this sounds like just the kind of event I have been looking for.

The reality of the donut thing is there are so many jokes about cops eating donuts that I probably haven’t actually eaten a donut in ten years.  But I will at this event, because if you don’t they actually add time to your riding time.

My friend Dennis (The Animal) has agreed to ride with me.  My biggest challenge will probably be to get “The Animal” out of the feed stations and back on the course as he has the reputation of hanging around the feeding areas for extended periods of time.  I’ve been watching him eat for years and I understand why he never runs out of energy.

I’ve not done this event before, but it sounds like a fun end of season event.  Hope to see some of you there.

Until next time, remember, age is an excuse not a reason.

Oh, and if you need a goal to go after on this one, maybe it could be to down more donuts than Mike Krywanski. If I recall recorrectly, he’s big on the baked goods.

    Gary,
Its great fun. There will be lots of PH folks there. We had a great turn out last year, we won one division and lots of guys place. The donuts are hard to get down, they are all cake! Drink lots of cider. Hope to see you out there.

Do you need to train for the donut-eating portion of this? Should you limit your increase in donut consumption to 10% per week? So many factors to consider. It sounds like a great way to revive your mojo. Enjoy!

    Gary,
Glad you are doing the race. There should be a lot of Priority club and team members at the race. The donuts are big cake donuts so you better start training with those. In last years race there was a lot of cheating going on. One guy said he ate 18 donuts. It was later discovered people were tossing donuts out in the port a potties! If i ate 18 of these donuts my heart would stop.
It’s the Klackle, just have fun with it. And thank you for your service as a police officer.
