As many others are doing at this time of year I have been thinking a lot about this years races and unfortunately injuries and trying to come up with goals for next year. Like others I want to do more and bigger races but more importantly one of my main goals is to learn to take more recovery time. I have been reading a variety of references about training and conditioning and one thing that is consistent is the need for recovery time in order to be successful. It seems so counterintuitive to me to take a day off but being forced to do so due to injury has actually shown me the light so to speak and helped me realize that all my hard work is not going to disappear overnight. So my goals are to race more and faster next year with a healthy dose of chilling out in between.
