Well the triathlon season was wrapped up for me this past weekend. It was a great season with lots of racing and a ton of experience gained as well. It was my first full season of multi-sport racing.I wrapped up the season this year at Reeds Lake Triathlon with a PR over last year by nearly eight minutes. It was great to see this improvement over last year with all of the hours spent in the pool and lakes, trails, and roads that were put in this year. I felt like I was able to gain a lot of knowledge this year after completing one full season of triathlon. I competed in 6 triathlons this year of various differences. I did my first Olympic length distance at GR TRI in June and also completed my first 1/2 Ironman distance race at Steelhead in August. I learned a lot from training for these difference distances throughout the year. I love the longer distance races as they seem to suit my training better. I also learned that if you give back to this sport it will give back to you. I volunteered at MI Titanium and learned what it was like to be on the other side of the race. It was a great experience being out there with all the athletes in a support role (plus I could eat whatever I wanted the night before the race).
What next??? Well I am going to do Warrior Dash at Millenium Park this coming weekend and then run a leg of the GR Marathon for My Team Triumph. I am looking forward to that as another opportunity to give back. I will not be out there for myself but for John Agar who I will be pushing for a five mile leg of the marathon. I am looking forward to this opportunity to meet other fellow “angels” and give back.
After that it is going to be rest time and strength training time. I have signed up for a class at the YMCA for total body strengthening and looking to get in to cross fit come January or February time frame as well. I will continue to train for triathlons and running races but I am looking forward to a little break with some strength training mixed in.
Hope your season is going well. See you around at the great fall races around Michigan.

Wow, what an incredible year for you, and you found time to volunteer to boot! You are going to enjoy running Grand Rapids. They put on a first class event.
