Better late than never

So I ran an epic race and forgot to blog about it until now.  I know… “SHAME ON ME!”

Anyhow, I am going to attempt to make up for it by telling my story now.  Better late than never!  I ran the North Country Trail Half Marathon for the third year in a row.  It is on hard core trails up near Manistee.  It is not for the faint of heart, but is an amazing adventure if you are up for the challenging terrain:  hills, roots, hills, sticks, hills, sand and more hills!  This was the third time I ran it.  I finished and I even got fourth place in my age group and a personal record by about a minute and a half.  I felt good about the race, but a little disappointed in myself for starting out so slowly because I had extra energy in my tank at the end of the day!  The best part was sharing the race with my sister and her husband and a group of great friends and the after party was stellar!

the trail is absolutely beautiful and if the beauty doesnt take your breath away the hills sure will!  I encourage all of my fellow champions to sign up for north country trail run.  There is great swag too, but the race is so popular you probably have to wait until 2019 to get in because 2018 is already sold out!
