Hung up by illness

There are many things I like about fall. Everything from apple orchards to donning jeans and hoodies and finally not having to run the A/C 24/7. The thing I don’t like…allergies.

Each fall my allergies kick in and therefore, my asthma. This fall has been particularly difficult because I had one flare about three weeks ago and now in the past week, my lungs are flaring again. I’m frustrated because we have a 5K we run every year around Halloween and I haven’t been able to run for almost a month. It is going to be awful. I was just starting to get back on track with running again – my husband and I were running together – and now we’ve fallen off track. I hope my lungs start cooperating soon.

I grew up on the east side of Michigan and moved to Grand Rapids to go to GVSU. I loved the area, stayed here after graduation and have established myself as a PA with Spectrum Health. I am married to my amazing husband who is a teacher and wrestling coach and we have been blessed with a little boy to help keep us busy.
