Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I was lucky enough to have parents who moved to Harbor Springs in 1973. Watching my Dad get up every morning, year round to run, and seeing my Mom teach "aerobics" (it was the 80's mind you) must have made a good impression. After moving back to town in 1996, I soon became interested in triathlon which culminated in 5 Ironman events between 2002 and 2008. Now with kids in the picture, I plan to enjoy getting back into the sport by participating in the many local events held throughout Northern Michigan.
What's your history?
I became interested in triathlon around 2001 after watching a friend compete in Ironman Lake Placid. It just looked like something I had to try. While I may be done with long course events, joining Priority Health has given me new motivation to get back out and participate locally..
Tell us about a memorable race experience.
The support of family and friends along the course is the most memorable thing for me in any event. Be it a 5K Turkey Trot or an Ironman marathon, I always remember when and where I saw a familiar face.
What are 3 adjectives that describe your approach to your sport?
Consistent, Realistic, Appreciative
What are nutritional tips you use to gain optimum performance?
Long run/ride recovery - 1 Pint of Ben and Jerry's Phish Food.

Give us some inspiration!
Get up early. Go.

What is your single most important goal this year?
Have fun. Train well.

The thing I love most about competing is ____________.
the fact that I have never regretted the decision to get out of bed in the morning and go to a race.

Fisk Knob TT

After 10 years of riding, I finally did my first “official” time trial at this year’s Fisk Knob.  This is a great early season race, and I will be sure to go back next year.

Altitude Training

As part of my preparations for the 2012 season opening Fisk Knob Time Trial, I opted for a 2 week training camp at altitude cleverly disguised as a family vacation.

Indoor Drafting

I took advantage of a couple friends last Saturday who are training for Ironman St. George (Utah, but the name sounds far more exotic).  They had a 4.5 hour trainer ride planned with a start time of 4:00AM.

Carrot on stick

After my trainer ride this morning, I decided it was time to replace the long dead DVD player in our basement.  I can’t take another morning of watching that tiny clock at the top of the screen on Sportscenter.

Happy New Year!!

Looking forward to 2012 and meeting the other members of Priority Health. After a few years without a major goal, this should be a great way to stay motivated. Its been a big help already running with Chuck Grzanka on the weekends.  Now if I can just get myself to the pool…
