Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am employed as a CSR at Dominion Systems and I am a student at Grand Valley State University. I will graduate with my BBA next summer with a major in business management and an emphasis on human resource management. I am the youngest of 4 girls and my sisters have blessed me with many nieces and nephews! My parents are amazing parents who have always offered lots of love, support, and laughs over the years! I have had many ups and downs in my life, but this year has been a huge turning point in my life. I am working hard to finish school, I landed an amazing job, I roped in the man of my dreams, and I am reaching out to new opportunities that come my way. I was very excited to be chosen for Team Priority Health Champions! I feel proud to represent the team, and I have been pushing myself to make health and fitness a permanent part of my life. I hope to reach out to as many people as I can through this experience as well as to learn and grow myself. If you see me out and about, don't be afraid to stop me and say hey!
What's your history?
I haven't been on a team since high school! I was on the track team my freshman year, and I played soccer for two years as well. My favorite race was last years mud run because I felt like I was on Survivor!
Tell us about a memorable race experience.
My sister and I ran the Reed's Lake 5k a few years ago. It was my first race, so my heart was pounding! We ran side by side the entire time, and we pushed each other to keep going. We reached the victory lane and we both knew it was time to kick it into gear. We did a full on sprint to the finish line and we crossed the finish line with the exact same chip time. It was amazing! It was the best first race experience I could have ever had!
Give us some inspiration!
I'm not a natural athlete. If you throw me a ball I'll probably drop it. If you kick me a ball, I might possibly kick it left or right instead of straight. If we play volleyball together, I'll probably bump it behind me instead of over the net. I used to just not play because of this. This year though, is the year that I am stepping outside of my comfort zone and making an effort to learn how to catch the ball, kick the ball straight, or bump the ball straight over the net. I used to be afraid of people who would laugh at me, but now I just say...."Laugh with me when I make a mistake, not at me. Give me tips to correct my game, and encourage me to keep playing." This is the year that I say, "I want to. I can. I will." I hope I can encourage you to do the same!

What is your single most important goal this year?
Do more, achieve more, and be happy!!!!

Busy bee

One of the main goals this year, and every year, was to add health and fitness to my daily routine on a more consistent basis.  I fear that I continue to struggle with this!

First run as a champion

Well school and work have been keeping me busy since becoming a Team Priority Health Champion.  I have been working out here or there, but not nearly enough to be ready for a 5k yet.

Working on my stride…

I am currently one of those runners who has a tiny stride.  Does anyone have any advice on how to increase my stride length?
