What‘s your history?I have been running for 12 years now. The past few years now I have been running marathons. I have ran 3 full marathons and in 2011 I ran the Boston Marathon. That is probably my biggest accomplishment so far in my life. I am current training for the River Bank Run 25K and in June I will begin training for the Chicago Marathon.
Tell us about a memorable race experience. The more memorable race experience for me was in 2010 at the Bayshore Marathon. This was my second marathon and my goal was to qualify for Boston. I was at about mile 5 when I guy name Jim ran up next me and starting talking with me. I am not the type to talk while I run so I found this to be very annoying. But being polite I talked with him for a bit. Not more than 3 minute later he asked me what my goal was for this race. I told him I really wanted to qualify for Boston. Jim then told me he run race Boston the month before and this was just a fun race for him. (He was not even signed up for the race, he just hopped in and started running) The next thing I knew Jim was coaching me for the next 21.2 miles. He handed me water when I needed it, told me my splits every mile. He was my support for this race. He talked me up when the negative thoughts started. I had never met this guy before and he was there by my side helping me reach my dreams. The last mile of the race he was yelling out the the crowd "This girl is going to Boston." I crossed the finish line at Bayshore I knew I accomplished what I set out to do. That day was one of the best days of my life and I know that if it were not for Jim I may not have finished with the same joy and excitement that I did.
What is your single most important goal this year?Run the River Bank run 25k in under 2 hours and qualify for Boston, again :)

Race Day Eve

What do you do the night before the race? I know for me, I am more focused on two nights before the big race…

Do you run the full race distance in training?

This year will be my 3rd time running the 25k River Bank Run. I have used a different training plan each time and at times I fill  like I am still trying to find the right one for me.

Hills, hills, and more hills!

That’s right Hills was a huge part of my long run this past weekend. I probably wont be the first or the last person to tell you that hill are a key factor when training.
