| What's your history? | |
I have been in the sport of cycling for the past 10 years. This will be my first season riding for the Priority Health Mens' Masters team. My brother-in-law and sister introduced me to the sport of cycling and I have been a member of the Village Bike Shop Club for the past 4 years.
| Tell us about a memorable race experience. | |
My most memorable race was the 2010 Cherry-Roubaix. The Cherry-Roubaix Road Race has been described as a gear-shifting, lung-splitting, quad-burning 12-mile course used for Michigan State Road Race in the late 1980s. I rode in the 35+ Masters' race and was able to stay with the lead group and pull back a late breakaway with a Priority teammate. This was my highest finish in the 35+ category - I ended up 11th.
| What are 3 adjectives that describe your approach to your sport? | |
Competitive, determined, resilient.
| What are nutritional tips you use to gain optimum performance? | |
I try to eat a variety of healthy organic items in my diet. I buy organic fruits, veggies, cereals and meat.
| Give us some inspiration! | |
Cycling is the only sport I know where you can push yourself to the limit for 3 hours and find the strength to recover and keep going. I remember the first time I started riding my bike, I went a total of 8 miles my first ride. 3 years later, I completed my first 100 mile tour. You have to start somewhere.
| What is your single most important goal this year? | |
My goal for this season is to compete at a high level, not take myself too seriously, and have fun.
| The thing I love most about competing is ____________. | |
knowing I gave my all. | |
