Joel Paquette Born in Houston Texas, moved to Colorado when I was about 6. Spent most of my 2nd half of my life living in the cyclist craze state before eventually becoming a cycling geek as well. Moved to Michigan in the summer of 2009 where I found a great cycling team (Priority Health) to be a part of.

What‘s your history?I started on the Front Rangers cycling team in Colorado. I have been riding in the sport for 2 years now and starting my 3rd year as a serious cyclists. What motivates me is racing. My favorite race would be Cherry Roubaix in Traverse City mostly becuase of the many climbs involved.
Tell us about a memorable race experience.Terry Reisch Memorial race last year was a race that I had a good time racing. I received second, but it was still a blast.
What are 3 adjectives that describe your approach to your sport?One day, to make a living racing bikes. To race in the Tour of California and win a stage. To show others God through cycling.
What are nutritional tips you use to gain optimum performance?I love oatmeal with granola and honey mixed together for breakfast before a race.
Give us some inspiration!I like to tell myself that I have much to look forward to in cycling so just keep working hard.
What is your single most important goal this year?To become a category 2 racer.

Because Michigan is mainly a flat state, the racing in Michigan of course, is mainly on flat roads, favoring a bike racer with a strong sprint.

Winter Beauty

Cherry Roubaix 2011

Wow, what a rush, final lap of this 63 mile category 3 road race sporting some nice climbs (at least for our state) about 500 yards from finish in the final turn, legs feeling good, well positioned at about 5th wheel, feeling good about my chances and then it happened
