What's your history?
a. Racing bikes would have not been expected from me. I refused to learn a bike until I was 11 years old. And the only reason I learned was my Grandpa made me a bike for my birthday from parts that he got at a flea market. Its was a cotton candy pink bike with a hot pink banana seat. Flash forward twelve years and a shiny new red bike later and I began to ride again. From that point on I’ve enjoyed cycling and racing.a. This will be my third year with the Women’s Priority Health Cycling Team. Prior to that I was with the Women’s Bissell Cycling Team.
Tell us about a memorable race experience.
a. The most memorable event that I’ve competed in is the National 24 Hour Challenge. It was my top mileage and the largest animal that I’ve ever ran over with my bike. The National 24 Hour Challenge is endurance road bike event. Riders, ride as many miles as they can in 24 hours. Near mid-night , while riding the night loop, I see two glassy raccoon eyes staring at me. What to do? Only thing to do is keeping riding straight and hope the raccoon runs. Apparently, the raccoon didn’t get the same memo I got. It just stayed there and acted like a speed bump. I ran over the raccoon and flew off my bike, scraping me up. The raccoon ran into the woods. After all was said and done I brushed myself , proceeded to ride and had my best mileage ever. And probably the most memorable stories. I don’t know how many people can say they’ve ran over a raccoon with their bike.
What are 3 adjectives that describe your approach to your sport?
Be brave, stay strong, fun time.
What are nutritional tips you use to gain optimum performance?
One of my favorite recovery drinks after a long ride is a glass of chocolate milk

Give us some inspiration!

What is your single most important goal this year?
My single most important goal is to have fun. To learn from my mistakes and take those lessons to become a better rider.

The thing I love most about competing is ____________.
This thing I love most about competing is the challenge.

You’re Never Too Old

I’ve heard it time and time again, “Oh, I’m too old to do that.” Well I’m here to say that age is not an excuse to not try new activities and stay active. My case in point is my mother. She didn’t start biking until later in her life. The newest adventure in her life [...]
