RACE REPORT
Kensington Road Race, Milford, MI
May 20, 2006
In spite of chilly temps, mechanical issues and a bit of questionable sportsmanship in the peleton, the Priority Health Women's cycling CyclingTeam finished today with great standings while exhibiting a very professional representation of women's cycling in Michigan. It was very gratifying to know throughout the race that the strength of our women's squad could at anytime pull back any break that didn't suit our team. As a first race of 2006 for many, this was the season's initiation as the women begin to learn to race together as team. Fantastic efforts once again by all, and an especially impressive effort by Amy Stauffer as she is slowly being lured to the road and away from that mountain bike! Our sweet Mackenzie was dearly missed, both her company, contribution and her threat to the opposition (and oh yes, her first place!) Racing without Kenz however, will force us to become a very smart, efficient and well tuned team effort that will be ready to support her when she returns. Our results today included Julie Allaire with 3rd place on the podium, followed by her teammates in 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th places.Keep your positive thoughts with Mackenzie on Wednesday as she undergoes surgery for her broken wrist.
