Cedar Creek RR / State Championship
Cedar Creek State Road Championship, Muskegon, MI
June 4, 2006
Congratulations to the Priority Health Women's Cycling Team for winning the Michigan State Championship Road Race this weekend at Cedar Creek!! A most impressive lead-out by Amy Stauffer set Julie Allaire up for the winning sprint.
This race set the bar a bit higher for Women's cycling in Michigan as the average speed was near 22MPH and no attacks were allowed to stay away from the field. With one of the largest field sizes in Michigan, this was a most excellent experience for everyone.
Aside from Priority Health taking first and third place, perhaps one of the greatest successes of the day was the steps the team took along the learning curve to road racing. Many of the team members were able to learn and practice holding great position in the pack, when to attack and most importantly, learning about putting out a full effort for the benefit of the team (rather than personal gain). The skills learned will secure the podium spots of the future. Of course the team could not have done all this without the motivational screams of Mackenzie Woodring from the feedzone.
