RACE REPORT

Athens Twilight Criterium, Athens, GA
April 29, 2006

In the first of the USA Crits series, the Athens Twilight Criterium, Priority Health's crit team showed that a bit of a racing hiatus wouldn’t slow them down, and rode to strong finishes all the way around.

First class performances in the previous day’s Computrainer Challenge which Ted King won, earned Ted, Robbie King, and Tommy Nankervis call-ups to join Australian National Criterium Champion, Rich England, at the start line.  From there, Priority Health was constantly starting or joining breakaways, but with the frenetic pace, none lasted off the front for more than a lap besides Glen Mitchell's one and a half lap solo break.

In the closing laps, Rich and Ted led the charge to the finish, with Rich ripping in for 7th place, and all five Priority Health riders finishing in the top 30 out of over 120 starters and only 50 finishers.  Vassili Davidenko, of the Navigators Insurance Cycling team won the race, the only two-time consecutive winner of the Athens Twilight Criterium.
