Meet the New Team Members...Fourth Edition

Below is information about two new members of the team, Dan Lam and Joe Kucharski.

Dan is the newest member of the Elite Team and provided the nice background summary below:

"- I'm 34, moved from San Jose to Kalamazoo in July 2009 with wife Laura, son Jackson, & dog Kenobi
- This isn't my first time living in Kalamazoo - I graduated from Kalamazoo College in 1998 (Math & Psych major) & went on to get an MS in Computer Engineering from Santa Clara University
- I'm a software engineer & work remotely for a San Jose based company
- My dad raced in the 70's & I started riding as cross training for cross country in high school on his old Masi Gran Criterium with Nuovo Record
- My first race was as a junior in the summer of 1990 and it didn't go well - first I got yelled at by an official for not buckling my helmet while riding back from reg, then I took forever to clip in & got dropped on the first lap!
- Was a competitive distance runner for many years (everything from 5K to marathon) until injuries caught up with me
- Started racing again in 2006 with the San Jose Bicycle Club, raced the past 3 seasons with TBS Racing
- I like hilly road races & technical crits, planning on doing some TTs this season
- 2009 season highlights - 2nd Cherry Roubaix crit, 8th Milford crit, 9th Maillot Jaune RR
- My main goals for 2010 are to upgrade to Cat 1, consistently finish in the top 10, & help my teammates achieve their goals
- Interests outside of cycling include: trying to keep up with my 2 year old son, watching Green Bay Packers football & San Jose Sharks hockey, everything Star Wars, astronomy, backpacking."

And Joe has joined the Masters Team and provided this information:

"Since I have done the majority of my training rides with Priority Health riders for years, I am extremely excited about becoming a member of this team.  My racing experience to date has been limited mainly to mountain bikes, with an emphasis on endurance based single speed events.  I have won the single speed division at Trans Iowa twice, and I was the winner in the 40+ single speed division at the 2008 Iceman.  In addition, over the past few years I have finished in the top 10 of my division at events such as the Lumberjack 100, Iceman, Barry-Roubaix, National 24-Hour Challenge, and Ore-to-Shore.   During this year my focus is going to be on transitioning from an ultra-endurance base to a sprint base while learning the nuances of road racing.  With some help and luck, I am hopeful that I will be competitive in road racing events.

I am married with two boys, ages 4 and 11.  I work as a personal injury claim representative with State Farm Insurance in Portage.  When I’m not on a bicycle, I enjoy camping, kayaking, and skiing."

As with all the new members of the team please extend a nice welcome to Joe and Dan.
