Meet the New Team Members...Third Edition
Another in the series of introductions of new team members. Below is information about Alexey Vermuelen of the U25 team and Tom Linck who is a new addition to the Masters Team:
Below is a nice background summary provided by Alexey:
"I have played travel ice hockey up until last year when I played for my high school team. As a freshman runner on the Varsity Cross Country team I ran as the 2nd runner. I was awarded All-Washtenaw County-class A Honorable Mention and All-SEC. My Cross country team was strong going in to the state meet this year. We won our Regional and became state runner-up. I play the violin in the Dexter Concert Orchestra. I am a Nordic skier in the winter for some of my off season training. I race on the Nordic ski racer team based in Michigan.
The Most Important Race in Michigan.
I love water sports, such as slalom skiing and racing sail boats are just a few of my playtime hobbies. I have two brothers, ages 13 and 9.
Last season was a big step for me in my cycling career. I started racing stage races and consistently training. One of my racing highlights so far was being invited to the USAC National camp and staying in the dorms at the Olympic Training Center. It was a great experience and the food was spectacular. I learned a lot from the camp about the diet of a cyclist and about race feeding.

In 2009 my season started strong and I won the spring training series “B” race and the Willow (15-16) Time Trial. I won the Cat. 4 road race at Le Tour de Mont Pleasant and then upgraded to Cat. 3 in late June. I placed 3rd in my first Cat. 3 race at Super Week, Schlitz Park in Milwaukee, WI. 1st place at Maillot Jaune Cat. 3 road race, and fourth at Cherry Roubaix in Traverse City, MI. My racing highlight of the year was the Green Mountain Stage Race where I took third overall in GC beating the silver medalist from junior worlds.

Michigan State Time Trial Champion. 2nd Place in MBRA Challenge Series 35+. Goals this year are to represent Priority Health posibively by being a good teammate, staying healthy and racing in as many events as my schedule will allow.I am a huge MSU fan. Graduated from there in 1990. Like to watch sports on TV and in person. Football, basketball and baseball and the Olympics. Like to hang out with my wife on my free time.
