New Rules

I have my safety rules, like most people. Wear a helmet, pack out what you pack in, don’t ride wet trails and so on. I’ve made an addendum to my rules, a set of five rules outside of safety rules.1. Try new things. You never know what fun experiences are waiting to be had until you give new experiences a chance. You don’t have to love everything, but you’ll never know unless you try.
2. Be positive. A positive attitude goes a long ways towards helping you conquer any challenge. Much of riding, like life, is a mind game. Having that positivity makes challenges seem surmountable.
3. Never Stop Learning. It’s never too late to learn a new skill.
4. Step outside your comfort zone. This one is hard, but so important. It’s important to try things that you find a bit scary or intimidating. It’s only by giving it a shot (with that positive attitude!) that you grow as a person.
5. Be a kid again. We have to be serious so much as adults. Take time to experience childlike joy. Blow bubbles, dance in the rain, sing out loud and enjoy life.

I'm a mountain biker. I love being out in the woods. I started riding just over a year ago and can't get enough. I also race for Central District Cyclery.
