Wrapping Up My First Year as a PH Champion!

I was accepted as a Priority Health “Champion” in August of 2016, a bit more than a year ago.  I figure it’s about time for me to do my FIRST blog post.

2017 Park2Park Half Marathon: Finish Line!

2017 Park2Park Half Marathon: Finish Line!

Throughout the last year, I have had ups and downs with my running. I’ve fought through things we all fight through — pulled muscles, self-doubt, occasional lack of motivation, frustrations that my races weren’t as fast as last year’s races, etc. I fought through the not-so-common things, like racing a half-marathon with what turned out to be PINK EYE! (See attached photo.) And then the niggling feeling in the back of my mind every time I posted the requisite #TeamPriorityHealth post on Facebook: Am I driving my Facebook friends nuts with my continual running posts? Is this somehow a narcissistic thing to do? Is it humble-bragging? And here I am, one year later, still running, still loving it, still doing my #teampriorityhealth posts, and not so much worrying about what everyone else thinks. I’ve had several Facebook friends tell me that they enjoy seeing my posts, that it prompts them to get off the couch and get out there running, that they’re inspired and motivated…  Well, then.  I guess this program is doing what it is supposed to do — it is promoting physical health and well-being. And that makes me happy. Because I’m gonna do my thing and run no matter what, but if I can motivate and inspire people AND earn free running gear in the process… Well. It’s a WIN-WIN situation!

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I hope to be a Champion again next year. :) Thanks for a great year, PH!
